In typical fashion for a presidential election year, there has been no shortage of news, down to the local level.

In an effort to focus on what best serves our readers, Colorado Community Media is working to engage our communities more frequently and on a variety of issues.

For the 2024 election, our newsroom is taking part in the Voter Voices project, which surveys voters on what matters to them when it comes to candidates and policy.

In addition to participating in Voter Voices, Colorado Community Media will be meeting with our readers to learn more broadly about what you want to see in your paper. When we know what our readers care about, we can use those insights to ask the right questions and pursue the stories that matter to you.

So as we near the midpoint of 2024, I’m planning two community chats to check in with local readers and talk about coverage of the Douglas County School District and the Town of Castle Rock, including answering questions and listening to feedback.

My goal in hosting these conversations is to ensure our stories reflect the community, provide needed information and offer a sense of connection.

Please join me at the Philip and Jerry Miller Library in Castle Rock, 100 South Wilcox St., in Conference Room D from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. on June 3 or from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. on June 6.

If you’re unable to meet during those times, feel free to email me at mharford@coloradocommunitymedia.com.
