PorchLight Family Justice Center in Lakewood hosted Colorado Lt. Gov. Dianna Primavera on Monday April 22 to commemorate National Crime Victims’ Rights Week 2024.
The U.S. Department of Justice has celebrated crime victims’ rights in April for 43 years This year’s theme is “Options, services and hope for crime survivors.”
“Here in Colorado, we are working to become one of the 10 safest states in the nation, and that includes important investments to support victims,” Primavera said.
PorchLight Family Justice Center is a nonprofit organization founded by former Jeffco/ Gilpin County Prosecutor Candice Cooledge. The center takes a holistic approach to providing services to crime survivors. The services include legal, mental health, housing, food, clinical needs, childcare, pet care and much more.
“Porchlight provides important services to Coloradans, and it was great to visit with the staff, advocates, survivors, and many others who share the goal of making Colorado safer and protecting victims,” Primavera said.
The Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office is hosting an annual Courage Walk on April 27. The walk is described on the department’s website as a time to honor survivors of violent crime. For more information on the Courage Walk, go to Jeffco.us.
