HIGHLANDS RANCH, CO – Tuesday, May 7, 2024 – The Highland Ranch Community Association (HRCA) proudly unveiled the recipients of its 2024 Community Scholarship Fund. Established in 2003, this program continues its commitment to empowering students within the community by providing access to post-secondary education opportunities.

The awards ceremony will take place on Tuesday, May 21 at 5:30 p.m., in the Wildcat Auditorium at Southridge Recreation Center, coinciding with HRCA’s monthly Delegate and Board meeting.

Members of the public are cordially invited to attend and see the acknowledgment of this year’s deserving students.

“For more than two decades, raising funds and providing scholarships that assist with access to education for local students has become an essential priority for the Highlands Ranch Community Scholarship Fund (HRCSF),” stated HRCA General Manager, Mike Bailey.

HRCSF, a 501(c)3 organization, has been instrumental in providing post-secondary education scholarships in Highlands Ranch and to students with special needs needing financial help to take part in various programs. Funding for HRCSF is primarily sourced from the annual Highlands Ranch Beer Festival, held annually in June at Civic Green Park, and through direct contributions from community members. Notably, HRCSF does not receive funding from member assessment dollars. Since its start, HRCSF has awarded 428 scholarships and $715,000 in post-secondary education scholarships.

Additionally, scholarships are awarded to HRCA’s Therapeutic Recreation Department participants. Through a symbiotic relationship with HRCSF, scholarships are granted to students requiring financial help to take part in group activities or receive personal instruction.

“Our Therapeutic Recreation Department helps to fill a necessity in our community that supports specialized recreational services to people of all ages with special needs, regardless of ability or disability,” noted Bailey. “Our compassionate community-based environment helps support participants through general independence, choice, self-determination, and self-confidence”.

The Therapeutic Recreation Department has served Highlands Ranch residents for more than 25 years and aims to enrich the lives of special needs families by offering a range of programs and services. To date, the program has supported more than 220 families, 600 individuals and offers 30 unique programs and services”.

Congratulations to this year’s HRCSF recipients.
