LAKEWOOD, CO – A dedicated group of volunteers will gather on the Lakewood Campus of Red Rocks Community College (RRCC) for a charitable initiative aimed at bringing comfort and joy to cancer patients and individuals going through serious life challenges. RRCC’s Fine Woodworking department, in collaboration with Blue Star Connection, a nonprofit dedicated to providing access to musical instruments for children and young adults facing cancer and other serious illnesses—promises to deliver twenty handcrafted ukuleles to uplift the spirits of those in need.

This initiative, led by RRCC instructor of lutherie Seth Gustin, is a celebration of the power of community and the healing potential of music. Volunteers and college employees will embark on a meaningful journey of crafting these instruments, knowing that each strum and cord will bring a moment of solace to someone fighting a difficult battle.

“We believe in the transformative power of music,” said Seth Gustin. “These ukuleles are not just instruments; they are symbols of hope, resilience, and the unwavering support of a community that cares deeply for those affected by cancer and serious life challenges.”

The workshop will take place March 18-22 from 9am-3pm at the Fine Woodworking studios on the RRCC Lakewood campus. Participants will have the opportunity to engage in a hands-on experience while making a difference in the lives of others.
