The Englewood Police Department arrested Joseph Michael Devivo on Oct. 31 on an outstanding warrant for second-degree murder and first-degree assault.
In a Nov. 1 statement, the police department said “(Devivo) has been booked into the Arapahoe County Jail with no bond and is scheduled for his first court appearance on Nov. 2,” the statement read.
His arrest comes days after the slaying of 53-year-old David Johnson who was shot multiple times at 2819 S. Acoma St on Oct 24.
Last week, the police department officers were dispatched to the Acoma Street address about 1:40 a.m. on Oct. 24 for a report of a man needing help who had possibly been shot.
Officers found Johnson suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. They attempted lifesaving measures until paramedics arrived. Johnson was taken to a hospital where he died.
Detectives identified the suspect as Devivo and police obtained a warrant for his arrest on a second-degree murder accusation.
Detectives asked for help from the public and the Nov. 1 release states Devivo was located in partnership with the Denver Police Department and Crime Stoppers.
