People were lined up along the sidewalk on Aug. 15 to get Sunday-morning pancakes at the 42nd Western Welcome Week Pancake Breakfast in Geneva Park. The park was also home to two other events that morning — the Kids Games of Old and the 25th Bruce Wolf Stick Horse Stampede.
“We’re celebrating community and we’re together again since we weren’t together last year,” said Cindy Hathaway, executive director of Western Welcome Week. “We’re thrilled to be back. After last year, I think everyone is anxious to get out.”
Hathaway said the concert and fireworks that kicked off the 93rd Western Welcome Week on the Friday night of Aug. 13 were packed.
“It was so nice to see people out and about,” she said.
Western Welcome Week activities continue through Aug. 22. Highlights include the Elks Hometown Pig Roast and music by Twenty Hands High on Aug. 20 and the Grand Parade on Aug. 21.
