Wrestling

AURORA -- Thornton's Christopher Moreno and Zach Zuniga advanced to the state 5A wrestling tournament Feb. 12 at Cherokee Trail High School.

Ibarra took second at 160 poiunds.

Moreno finished fourth at 126 pounds at the regional wrestling tournament at Cherokee Trail High School.

The state 5A tournament begins at 4:30 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 17. The finals are at 5:30 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 19.

Boys basketball

Thornton beat Weld Central 38-31 in Keenesburg Feb. 10. Brenden Buzzell and Abdul Alarape led the Rebels with 11 points. No stats were avalable for the Trojans.

Girls basketball

Thornton nipped Arvada 22-21 in Thornton Feb. 8. Emma Ngewasi led the Bulldogs with nine points. Sydnee Fark added seven. No stats were available for the Trojans.

Weld Central beat Thornton 44-16 in Thornton Feb. 10. Julie McBride led WCHS with 12 points. Rylie CAgle was next with eight. No stats were available for Thornton.
