State 3A soccer: Eagle Ridge Academy takes on Lutheran in opening round


Eagle Ridge Academy will take its 9-0-1 record into the first round of the state 3A soccer playoffs Wednesday, June 16.

The Warriors visit Lutheran at 7 p.m. Wednesday, June 16. The winner gets either Kent Denver or Alamosa in the quarterfinal round Saturday, June 19.

ERA is 9-0-1 this season and was 6-0-1 in the Colorado League, which earned the Warriors the league championship. Brianna Gelok leads the team in scoring with 10 goals through nine matches. Areli mercado scored eight in eight games, and Amanda Nikolai added five. 

Goalkeeper Allisa Rivera had a goals-against average of 1.8 during the regular year and made 38 saves.

The Lions were 8-2 overall, and all contests were in the Metro League. Lutheran was third in that conference. Carli Haney had 11 goals during the regular season. Caley Swiuerenga, a sophomore, added 10. Maura Kirkpatrick contributed seven. Freshman goalkeeper Bissette Bussey saw most of the action in goal for Lutheran. She made 21 saves and had a goals-against average of 1.7.
