Pride comes to Adams County

Todrick Hall, Babe Walls will be featured during the celebration

Adams County will host its inaugural Pride event at Riverdale Regional Park in Brighton on June 18.

“It’s our inaugural event and we are really, really excited,” said Christa Bruning, a spokesperson for Adams County. “We’ve got a really good lineup to spend throughout the day.”

The event will be free and family entertainment begins at 11:00 a.m. featuring water activities, drag queens, food, beer, community resources and more.

There will also be a concert, which does require purchased tickets, featuring Todrick Hall. Hall is a singer, songwriter, choreographer and all-around entertainer.

“Whether performing on stage or standing behind the scenes directing his own music videos, Hall is a force of nature who commands attention. His loyal fanbase has followed him from his appearances on ‘RuPaul’s Drag Race’ to Broadway, where he has appeared in smash hits including ‘Kinky Boots,’ ‘Chicago,’ and ‘Waitress,’” according to a news release.

Mural project planned

The Pride event will also feature Babe Walls, which is “a celebration of womxn and non-binary folks in art,” the news release says.

12 artists from Babe Walls will create six live mural installations starting on June 16 and finishing on June 18. Each mural will be a collaboration of two artists, plus one large community mural.

The artists will include Alexandrea Pangburn, Romelle, Kaitlin Ziesmer, KoKo Bayer, Gina Ilczyszyn, GrowLove, Adri Norris, and Danielle SeeWalker.

This will be the third iteration of the installation art series, following projects in Arvada in 2021 and Westminster in 2020.

Once the murals are completed, they will move to various locations throughout Adams County.
