Mountain Range HS scoreboard June 11


Girls golf

ARVADA -- Mountain Range's Adriana Vasquez and Rebekah Powers moved on to the state 5A golf tournament later this month. Vasquez carded a 75, good for fourth place at the June 10 regional tournament. Powers finished with an 89.

The top two teams and the top 13 finishers who weren't on those teams qualified for the state tournament at City Park in Denver. The two-day tournament starts Monday, June 21.

Sammie Greisinger finished in 37th place after finishing her round with a 118. The Mustangs were sixth in the team standings, 11 strokes in back of Legacy High School.


Regis shut out Mountain Range 3-0 in Aurora June 7. Regis pitcher Brooks Geiring threw a no-hitter at the  Mustangs and struck out nine. MRHS pitcher Aiden Johnson struck out three in his six innings of work.

Mountain Range beat Boulder 6-1 in Broomfield June 9. Michael Acierno had a base hit and drove in two runs. Jace Valdez had two base hits and an RBI. Acierno also was the starting and winning pitcher. He struck out seven in six innings.

The Mustangs closed out the season with a come-from-behind, 7-6 win over Pomona on the Panthers' field June 10.  MRHS scored six times in the top of the seventh to earn the win.  Mark Cusick's two-run single capped the rally. 

Griffee Mapps, son of Pomona coach EJ Mapps, drove in two runs. EJ Mapps coached his last game for the Panthers after 28 years in charge.

Girls soccer

Fairview shut out Mountain Range 10-0 in Broomfield June 8. Blythe Sales and Claire Silverman scored twice for the Knights. No stats were available for the Mustangs.

Fort Collins blanked the Mustangs 9-0 in Fort Collins June 10. No stats were available.

Boys swimming

Legacy downed Mountain Range 124-38 at the Veterans Memorial Aquatic Center June 9. Logan Harveson was second in the 100-yard backstroke, where his time was 1:01.26. Emel Omeragic turned in a second-place effort in the 100- butterfly, posting a time of 1:02.31.
