Marshall Fire impacts 27-J employee

The recent Marshall Fire in Boulder County impacted 27J Schools employee Ted Chavez.
Chavez, who's been with the district for more than 25 years as a mechanic in the transportation department, is OK. But he lost his home, his cars and his possessions.
District employees organized a fundraising campaign, "Donate Love," to support his efforts to rebuild. He needs personal and household items, gift cards and monetary contributions through GoFundMe (

Donations topped $66,000 through Jan. 5.

"The amount of outpouring support is such a blessing," said organizer Caryn Chavez on the GoFundMe page. "Showing how much love we have to share and the support we have from the community. Thank you again to everyone. Every little bit will help this family of five separate households get back to eventually being one family unit block in Old Town Superior.
"The fire may have taken the photos, mementos, furniture and more," she added. "But we will continue to cherish the memories made in these houses. This money will go to them all, and they can split it up amongst themselves."
