In researching the Douglas County sheriff’s candidates, I was surprised at the great depth and breadth of Holly Kluth’s experience, training, and leadership from within our Douglas County Sheriff’s Office. On top of her strong credentials of law enforcement and proven leadership, I think some of her special strengths need to be shared.
Holly Kluth created and actively supported officer training programs and initiatives that assisted local, state and federal programs, starting in her early career, helping women be more successful when not many women were entering this field, to spending years on a nonprofit providing facilities and programs for officers across the state. She continued her own training with coursework and degrees throughout the years as well. Her focus on training will be a key factor attracting and retaining our great sheriff’s deputies.
Mental health is a topic we hear bandied about with respect to understanding and preventing crime. Holly Kluth took that a step further and added a degree in psychology ... what better to have a science-based and objective way to understand the issues, and work toward true solutions regarding mental health in all aspects of law enforcement. And that includes understanding of and compassion for victims too.
Holly Kluth was appointed to the Douglas County Physical School Safety Committee after the STEM tragedy, where she worked with numerous experts and professionals to identify cost-efficient, viable and effective school safety measures.
Holly Kluth coordinated the development of a multi-jurisdictional DNA Crime Lab, something that helps us not only here in Douglas County, but also across multiple jurisdictions.
Looking at her credentials, Holly Kluth is a standout candidate for Douglas County sheriff.
