Letter to the editor: Sen. Smallwood will keep us thriving

Douglas County is a wonderful place to live where liberty and limited government define our way of life. Unfortunately, our state government has been under one-party control for several years now and we are seeing that the harmful impacts across Colorado are encroaching on our county. Our legislature fails to pass laws reflecting our diverse Colorado voices, and instead rushes through regulations to transform our state into a progressive stronghold.

That is why it is crucial we reelect people like state Senator Jim Smallwood to represent us in District 4. Jim Smallwood has proven experience standing up for Douglas County and our great state — from combating rising health care premiums to expanding daycare choice for families to supporting our vibrant energy industry. In representing us, he has championed economic prosperity — promoting an environment that creates jobs and limits government overreach, advocated fiscal responsibility — cutting taxes and preserving the Taxpayer Bill of Rights (TABOR), and defended the Constitution — including our right to free speech and to bear arms.

If we cherish and want to continue improving our great quality of life in Douglas County, we need to counterbalance our one-party dominated state government and elect people who represent our voices.

As a former small business owner, father, and freedom-loving American, Jim Smallwood shares our values and has proven he represents us well. This November, it is crucial we elect people like him up and down the ticket so we can overcome challenges and continue thriving in Douglas County.
