Letter to the editor: Douglas County mistaken about separation

As our Douglas County commissioners move away from Tri-County Health, I question their judgment, asking some pointed questions.

Can the commissioners provide the same protection of service at the same cost as paying Tri-County or are taxpayers possibly going to pay more? Will the new Douglas County Health Organization have separate powers that interference from our elected know-it-alls will be guaranteed? How can taxpayers be assured that whoever is appointed to this group will have the background to deal with issues and not bend to political pressure that currently exists in the county?

For political reasons, I feel our commissioners are making a wrong move and not looking at the whole picture of what this virus is doing to our society. We do not live in a vacuum but interface with the entire metro area. Rethink your direction before acting. Wearing masks in public may not be all that bad for protection. Where does a person’s rights to not wear a mask have over common sense and desires of wanting to protect their families?
