Girls golf

ARVADA -- Legacy's Ayla Milan and MIa Blackard qualified for the state 5A golf tournament.

Milan, a freshman, finished the regional tournament at Indian Tree Golf Course with an 84. Blackard, a senior, finished with a 91. The top two teams and the top 13 finishers who weren't part of the top two teams advanced to the state tournament at City Park in Denver. The two-day meet starts Monday, June 21.

Peyron McLeese carded a 99, one shot behind the last qualifier for the state meet. The Lightning finished fifth in the team standings.

State tennis

DENVER -- Five area tennis players -- Fabi Alvarez, Kady Vu and Emily Smith of Legacy High School -- moved into the quarterfinals at No. 3 singles at the Gates Tennis Center.

Alvarez, a senior, downed ThunderRidge's Summer Nash 6-2, 6-4. She faces Evy Sadel of Fort Collins at 2 p.m. June 11. Sadel doened Boulder's Lucie Paul 6-1, 7-5 this morning. At No.  3 doubles, Legacy's Katie Tsai and Ava Klein rallied for a 4-6, 6-1, 6-2 win over Legend's Ella Hudson and Taylor Eddy. Legacy's twosome faces Victoria Moldovan and Jisele Boker of Cherry Creek in the quarterfinals.

Smith and Vu, the Lightning's No. 4 doubles team, beat Emily Richardson and Abby Hawkins of Fruita Monument this afternoon.

Of those five, none advanced to the state semifinals. Fort Collins' Evy Sadeh beat Alvarez 3-6, 6-2, 6-1 in the quarterfinals at No. 1 singles. At No. 3 doubles, State 5A tennis .. at No. 3 doubles, Cherry Creek's Victoria Moldovan and Jisele Becker beat Legacy's Kate Tsai and Ava Klein 6-0, 6-2 in the quarterfinals.

Denver East's Alexa MacDonald and Katie Commons battled past Legacy's Katy Vu and Emily Smith 6-4, 7-6 at No. 4 doubles

At No. 1 singles, Legacy's Eileen Tran lost to Ally Lowe of Ralston Valley 6-4, 6-2.  Paige Beauchamp of Ralston Valley downed Legacy's Lily Kasic 6-1, 6-1 in the opening round at No. 2 singles. Also at No. 2 singles, Charlotte Baker of Heritage beat Northglenn's Makayla Clemons 6-0, 6-0


Legacy downed Pomona 10-2 in Broomfield June 7. Kieran Gaffney and Cole Walker had two hits and two RBIs.  Cale Claridge had three hits for the Lightning. 

Brady Ritzmann had two of Pomona's five base hits.

Girls soccer

Legacy got two goals from Julianna Hayuward and Kendall Rippley and beat Fossil Ridge 4-3 in Broomfield June 8.

No stats were available for the Sabercats.

The Lightning blanked Horizon 9-0 in Thornton June 10.  Julianna Hayward scored three goals.  Kendall Rippley added two. 

LHS finished the regular season with a record of 8-2.

Boys swimming

Legacy beat Mountain Range 124-38 at the Veterans Memorial Aquatic Center June 9.

Kyle Raskay won two events for the Lightning. His time in the 50-yard freestyle was 22.01 seconds. His time in the 100- backstroke was 56.13.  Tegan Barrier's individiual wins came in the 200- individual medley (2:08.75) and the 100- breast stroke (1:03.71).
