Funk (37-5) pinned two of his first three opponents en route to the title match. The first was against Legend's Nathan Grandy in the quarterfinals. Funk's semifinal pinfall win was against Zach Ferrera of Monarch. The total mat time of those two contests was a bit more than six minutes.,
Elswhere, Legacy's Andrew Ernst (17-19) didn't win a match at 120 pounds. Kaiden Sulivan (12-6) won once in three tries. That was against Columbine's Will Schrader, a 12-4, major decision.
Blake Swearingen had the deepest run of the Lightning state qualifiers. Swearingen (25-9) got to the third round of the consolation bracket before Adams City's Seth Deaguero beat him 7-5 in overtime. Swearingen's two wins in the tournament -- both in the consolation bracket -- were against Mickael Byers of Pine Creek and Andrew Sarno of Grandview.
Ryan Bynarowicz (28-9) won once in three starts at 170 pounds. The win was in the opening round, a 3-2 decision over Columbine's Darrell Miller.
Boys basketball
Rocky Mountain beat Legacy 78-69 in Fort Collins Feb. 15. No stats were available.
Poudre bested the Lightning 53-42 in Broomfield Feb. 18. No stats were available for either team.

Legacy topped Rocky Mountain 47-39 in Broofield Feb. 16. Olivia Mortensen led the Lightning with 13 points. Elena Free and Kendall Rippley scored six. No stats were available for the Lobos.
LHS beat Poudre 42-32 on the Impalas' floor Feb. 17. Mortensen again led the scoring effort for the Lightning. She had 12 points. Katie Paredes had six, and Kendall Aragon scored five. Bela Voglund led the Impalas with 12 points.
