How to vote in Arapahoe County

Voters can cast ballots by mail, drop box or in-person

Posted

Arapahoe County offers several ways to cast your vote. Here’s what you need to know:

All currently registered Colorado voters will begin receiving ballots by mail on Oct. 9. To return your ballot by mail, fill it out, make sure to sign the envelope and affix proper postage, and allow eight to 10 days for delivery. Election officials recommend mailing your ballot no later than Oct. 26, a Monday that is eight days before Election Day.

Arapahoe County voters may also use one of 33 secure ballot drop boxes, open 24/7. All drop boxes are emptied daily by bipartisan teams and monitored by security cameras. Box locations can be found at arapahoevotes.com, under the “upcoming election” tab.

Voters can also vote in-person at one of 29 voter service and polling centers, or VSPCs. Voters can also register to vote or update their registration, obtain replacement ballots, drop off completed ballots, or use accessible voting equipment or language interpretation services at all locations.

The first round of VSPCs will open on Oct. 19. A second round will open on Oct. 30. VSPCs are open Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., though hours and days will be extended closer to the election, ending at 7 p.m. on Nov. 3. Those locations can also be found under the “upcoming elections” tab at arapahoevotes.com.

Voters who need a replacement ballot can request one by calling the county Elections Division at 303-795-4511 and arranging a curbside ballot pickup, or arrange for one to be mailed before Oct. 26. After Oct. 19, voters can request replacement ballots at a VSPC. Requesting a replacement ballot nullifies the original mailed ballot to prevent double-voting.

Voters can use the county’s ballot tracker to receive emails, texts or phone messages to keep tabs on whether their ballot has been received and accepted, by signing up at arapahoevotes.com/ballot-track.

In order to keep voters and election judges safe during COVID-19, elections officials recommend using ballot drop boxes, voting by mail or dropping off completed ballots at a VSPC. However, VSPCs will use cleanliness protocols including sanitizing voting booths between voters, social distancing, and making hand sanitizer and face masks available.

For a list of drop boxes, VSPC locations and hours, visit arapahoevotes.com, call 303-795-4511, or email elections@arapahoegov.com.
