Evergreen Fire/Rescue responded to a fire call at about 12:45 a.m. to the home off Stagecoach Boulevard, and the home was fully involved in flames when firefighters arrived, according to Einar Jensen, an EFR spokesman.
Indian Hills and Elk Creek fire departments assisted in fighting the fire. They were tasked primarily with hauling water to the scene since there were no fire hydrants nearby, Jensen said.
Neighbors were notified through Lookout Alert about the fire, so they would know EFR was on the scene, Jensen said.
Fire officials were told the property had recently been purchased, and Jensen didn't know whether the new owners had moved anything into the home.
The home, which was remote, was in a gated community on a one-lane road, and snow and ice made getting to the house more difficult, Jensen said.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
This is the third house fire in the Evergreen area in a week.
Causes have been determined for the first two fires, both on Jan. 31 by the EFR fire inspector. The first fire on Silver Spruce Lane that morning was accidental, starting near a wood-burning fireplace. The second that evening on Aspen Way was caused by improperly stored fireplace ashes.
The Jeffco coroner's office has not released the name or cause of death of the woman who died in the Silver Spruce Lane fire.
