Girls golf

DENVER -- Two golfers from Horizon High School qualified for this year's state 5A golf tournament.

Morgan Gilmore carded a 76 during the June 7 regional round at City Park to finish second in the inidividual stroke play standings. Ella Neuhaser finished with an 88 and finished 13th.

The top two teams and the top 13 players not on those teams qualified for the state meet at City Park starting June 21.

Isabelle Swanson finished the regional tournament with a 98. The Hawks finished third in the team standings, 21 strokes out of second place.


Eights were wild in the game between Horizon and Littleton.

The two teams played eight innings and finished in an 8-8 tie. The June 7 game was in Thornton. Jack Shalhope had three RBIs for the Lions. No stats were available for Horizon.

Boys swimming

Horizon topped Loveland 107-69 at the Veterans Memorial Aquatic Center in Thornton June 9.

Samuel Schleicher won two individual events, the 100-yard butterfly in a time of 56.96 seconds, and the 200- individual medley, where his time was 2:07.84. Chase Giandinoto won a pair of events, too. His first-place time in the 50- freestyle was 23.69 seconds. His top time in the 500- freestyle was 5:04.16.

The 200- medley relay team (Harrison Cramer, Schleicher, Ethan Adams and Samuel Cramer) won in a time of 1:49.94. The 400- freestyle relay team (Cramer, Schleicher, Adams And Schuyler Cramer) won with a time of 3:46.59.

Girls soccer

Fort Collins tripped up Horizon 2-1 in Thornton June 7. No stats were available.

Girls lacrosse

Holy Family stopped Horizon 16-9 in Thornton June 8. Alli Spuler and Abi Buttrell scored three goals for the Hawks.
