Fireworks show set for July 4

Traditions resume after 2020 cancellations.

Posted

The 2021 July Fourth fireworks show will be at Santa Fe Quarry Mesa, the butte above Red Hawk Ridge Golf Course.

Starting at sundown, about 9:30 p.m., fireworks will shoot off from the top of the Santa Fe Quarry Mesa. Because of the elevation of the butte, estimated at about 6,700 feet, fireworks can be seen throughout the town.

Just prior to the show, there will be a three-shot salute to start the show.

Town officials ask those attending the show in person to be courteous in parking in nearby neighborhoods. Residents are asked to avoid blocking driveways and follow all posted parking restrictions. Parking along major streets and roadways will be limited.

In the event of rain or severe weather, the fireworks show will be postponed to Monday, July 5. If the town is under Stage 2 fire restrictions, the show will be canceled.

Watch the town website, CRgov.com/Fireworks, for updates as the date nears.

Golf course information and park information

Red Hawk Ridge Golf Course will be open normal hours, 6 a.m. to dark. The course is hosting a small parking lot party and the 6202 Band will play from 6 to 9 p.m. The Clubhouse Grill will be grilling in the parking lot with food for purchase, and beverage stations will be available.

The public is invited to hang out in the parking lot, the Clubhouse lawn and the driving range to watch the fireworks show. The golf course asks visitors to please stay in the parking lot or driving range area and off the greens for safety and maintenance reasons. Limited on-street parking will be available near the golf course.

For those watching the fireworks show from a town park, town officials ask that visitors respect the park and clean up any trash or debris after the show.

Personal fireworks

In Castle Rock, fireworks are only legal for use on July 4. The fireworks allowed for personal use must be purchased at stands local in Castle Rock. As a general rule, fireworks that leave the ground, explode or break off into pieces are not allowed.

If any fire restrictions are in place, personal fireworks are not allowed. Visit CRgov.com/Fireworks for more safety information.
