Prairie View's Nelson takes first at EMAC major golf tourney


AURORA -- Prairie View's Lily Nelson fired a 1-under par 71 at the first all-school Eastern Metro Athletic Conference golf tournament at Murphy Creek Golf Course May 5.

She was the only golfer in the field to break par, and she was 19 shots ahead of her teammate, Maddie Klink. Peyton Trujkillo finished with a 134,

Brighton's Kaylin Leydon was her team's medalist. She finished with a 21-over par total of 93, which put her in third place in the team standings. Linda Chavarria finished with a 96, and Raleigh Puzio carded an even 100.

BHS won the team title by six shots over the ThunderHawks. The scores from this meet and the second, all-school meet (11 a.m. Thursday, May 12, at Buffalo Run Golf Course in Commerce City) will determine the league championship and the all-conference rosters for the season.
