I am financially responsible, an advocate for improving Brighton’s infrastructure, a promoter of community involvement, and support measures which increase and protect individual freedom.

What issue do you see shaping the city the most through the next decade and how we should respond?
Meeting our water needs. We must re-tool our water treatment facility in order to meet our growing demand for water. At the same time, we need to encourage residents and developers to implement drought tolerant landscaping.

Water and New Development will drive issues impacting Brighton for the next decade. These issues will impact existing residents and how new development impacts our roadway travel, water costs and future taxation to meet overall needs created by new development. We cannot forget all of our current residents who will be impacted by new development in many ways. Our concerns for the next decade should be to confirm new development has paid its own way.

We often see politicians using catch phrases like “common sense”, “vision”, “Integrity”. Instead, I decided to make real world, applicable campaign promises to build our half streets, lower our water bills, and lower our metro district taxes. Every single campaign promise my team and I made four years ago has been accomplished!
The same skills that I have used to accomplish all these things will be used to continue to provide us true representation.
1. Bridge Street is widened to four lanes from East Brighton all the way to Highway 85, and an interchange is built at Bridge Street and I-76 to alleviate daily East Brighton Traffic issues.
2.Water rates are not raised directly on residents after years of water price gouging has finally been halted.
3. Keep attacking Metro District tax inequity across all of East Brighton.
Water! After blowing the whistle on our former utilities department and their unethical behavior, its time now to offer solutions to our water issues:
1. Create an unrivaled non-potable system!
2. Demand water conservation landscaping across the city on new developments.
3. Create and implement grant programs to replace traditional grass yards.
4. Corporate accountability on impermeable storm water drainage.
5. Discuss ways to build the water plant that should have already been built.

Data driven Collaboration
I have a positive attitude, a good sense of humor and in dealing with others I presume good will. I am technical by nature and past profession, so I like to have facts, data, and collaboration to make good decisions. I own my decisions. I was in public service for 40 years and retired from FEMA, I have volunteered for the city of Brighton’s emergency management since 2011.
1. Water: Brighton has doubled in size since 2000. We need to continue to seek more water supply and better purification for our city. My focus, continuing to build our own purification systems and water sources.
2.Safe Roads and Pedestrian trails: Current infrastructure projects are opportunities for safer signage, cross walks, pedestrian trails, and connections. I want to see these opportunities realized.
3.Affordable Housing: Brighton has a need in this area.
The issue I see most shaping our future is the decline of personal interaction. Brighton’s small-town feel slowly deteriorates as social media consumes most everyone’s time. The sense of community is going from a physical location to virtual internet groups.
Brighton is great about getting our community physically gathered in social engagements by hosting special events, ceremonies, and celebrations. It is a great investment in Brighton to have our residents meet face to face often.

I will always assess all sides of a matter. I have the desire to not just listen, but actually hear wishes/concerns of the residents. Add those two together and that means that I will always make an educated decision with the residents and the City’s best interests in mind.
Supplying the residents with good quality water in sufficient quantities. Finding ways to decrease homelessness. Economic development and quality controlled growth.
Lack of quality water in sufficient quantities is the issue. How we do our best to get ahead of the growth by planning very well for the future.

Common Sense approach to Issues and Policies, through Compassion, Integrity, Creativity, and a Little Healthy Competition
I’m the only candidate.
Council Members need to follow the charter, and Residents need to be reminded that all ordinances were written for City Dwellers to provide pride in Our Community.
We need well balanced Housing, Water is not just our issue but the entire state of Colorado, we need to address it with all our partners in the State.

I care deeply about this city, its history, and its future. I do my homework. I follow through with my commitments.
All three relate to supporting the city’s rapid growth. We need solid plans for water conservation, treatment, storage, and acquisition. We need address transportation, including mass transit, highway access, and modern traffic controls. Finally, we need to ensure a variety of housing density and affordability with a comprehensive growth plan.
Growth will shape the city for the foreseeable future. We should respond with purpose. We have opportunities to tell city leadership what we want to be, and every decision should be made, every action taken, to meet that goal. We need to work collaboratively creating the community that makes us proud and invites people to live, raise their children, and retire here. Always, we can, and we should, respond with truth, with kindness.
