Douglas County Sheriff’s Office searching for shooting suspect

Authorities are looking for a vehicle and its occupants

The Douglas County Sheriff’s Office is asking for the public’s help as deputies search for a vehicle and its occupants, who they believe were involved in a morning shooting Wednesday, April 29.

The white, single cab Ford truck, last seen with a brown box in the bed, was photographed by a security camera while leaving the scene in the 200 block of Green Valley Circle in Castle Pines, authorities said.

The incident began in what deputies believe was an attempted burglary. The suspects then fired at a nearby neighbor but did not hit anyone, deputies said.

The vehicle that deputies are searching for has older-style wheels, a silver grill and small hubcaps, according to a release from the sheriff’s office.

“It appears there is a large rust mark behind the rear driver’s door,” according to the release. “The truck also has a hitch and a faded 4x4 decal on the rear fender.”

As of 12 p.m., deputies were still on the scene investigating the situation, said spokeswoman Lauren Childress. It’s unclear how many people were in the truck, she said.

“These guys are still out there,” Childress said. “I really want to stress the importance of locating this vehicle and its occupants to prevent anything happening to anyone else.”
