Brighton woman to be sentenced for crash that killed her son


The woman accused of vehicular homicide and reckless driving in a crash that killed her son entered a request to plead guilty, according to the 17th Judicial District Attorney's Office.

Sentencing for Brighton resident Karena Cecil is set for 8:30 a.m. Friday, Jan. 28. She made her request for the guilty plea Nov. 22.

Cecil was driving along Interstate 76 east of Brighton Memorial Day weekend when her car went out of control and rolled over. Her young son died in the crash.
