Boys swimming

THORNTON -- Here are Brighton's results from the state 5A swimming and diving meet at Veterans Memorial Aquatic Center May 13-14.

200-meter medley relay: 26. Trey Wilson, Loganm Hays, Tanner Howe, Vahn Williams, 1:47.81. 50- freestyle: 32. T. Howe, 22.26. 100- butterfly: 29. T. Howe, 53.74. 100- freestyle: 48. T. Wilson, 50.78. 200- freestyle relay: 23. T. Wilson, Xavier Shaver, V. Williams, T. Howe, 1:34.02. 400- freestyle relay: 30. V. williams, X. Shaver, Kushal Paul, Calvin Ngo, 3:36.43.

Track and field

LOMNGMONT --  Brighton's Taylor Weber was fourth in the triple jump at the St. Vrain Hoka Invitational at Longmont High School May 13. Her best effort was 34 feet 10 1/4 inches.

On the boys side, Kaleb Quammie took fifth in the 200-meter dash (22.7 seconds) and sixth in the 100-meter dash with a time of 11.09 seconds.


Mountain Range scored three runs in the sixth inning and beat Brighton 5-1 on the Mustangs' field May 9.

Victor Manuel Rodriguez had a base hit and two RBIs. Mark Cusick and Jace Valdez had two hits and drove in a run. Pitcher Jayden Hansen struck out seven in six innings of work.

Cannon Headley had one of the two Bulldogs' hits, and he drove in Brighton's only run.Zachary Perkins struck out eight in his four innings of pitching.

Brighton survived a late rally and beat Horizon 9-8 in a non-league contest between two schools that will be in the same league next school year.

BHS had a five-run lead heading to the last of the seventh. But the Hawks put four on the board before the last out was recorded.

Garrett Chadwich had four hits and three RBIs for BHS. Isaac Rodriguez had a base hit and drove in a pair of runs. Isaac Gomez had a base hit and three RBIs for the Hawks. Jacob Olguin-Pacheco added two hits and an RBI.

Girls golf

COMMERCE CITY -- Brighton's Kaylin Leydon was her team's medalist at the second all-Eastern Metro Athletic Conference tournament May 12 at Buffalo Run. She finished her round with a score of 103. Raleigh Puzio carded a 108, and Sophia Rosasco finished with a 110.

BHS finished second in the team stroke play portion of the event, 11 shots behind rival Prairie View High School.

BHS finished second to Prairie View for the conference golfing title. The margin was five shots.
