Brighton HS scoreboard Oct. 17



Brighton downed Adams City 25-21, 25-18, 25-22 in Brighton Oct. 12. Kenia Prieto, Katherine Teter and Carolina Loa had two kills for the Eagles. Evelyn Udezue had 10 kills to pace BHS. Andi Jackson was next with nine.

Brighton beat Prairie View in straight sets Oct. 14 in Brighton. No set scores or stats were available for either team.


Kevin Negrette and Diego Flores scored the goals as Adams City shut out Brighton 2-0 in Commerce City Oct. 12.

Goalkeeper Adrian Arriaga picked up the shutout win with five saves.

No stats were available for the Bulldogs.

Cross country

AURORA -- Brighton High School won Eastern Metro Athletic Conference cross country titles in both the boys and girls divisions at the league meet Oct. 13 at the Arapahoe County Fairgrounds.

Ryan Green (third, 18:23.4), Austin Hill (fifth, 18:32.4), Andrew Sanchez (10th, 19:30.2), Carter Ferara (11th, 19;42.4) and Joshua Hill (17th, 20:21.7) produced the points for the BHS boys squad.

The girls team's point-producers were Claire Engelhardt (second, 20:16), Danielle Nikolai (third, 20:41.5), Megan Derby (fourth, 21;14), Amanda Nikolai (fifth, 21:34) and Brooklynm Yates (15th, 23:26.5).


Broomfield beat Brighton 37-27 on the Eagles' field Oct. 15. BHS quarterback Nate Griffeth completed half of his 20 passes for 195 yards and a touchdown. He and Noah Canale connected on a 62-yard scoring strike. Canale wound up with six receptions for 162 yards. Max Cisneros gained 32 yards on 10 carries.


AURORA -- Brighton High School lost its two games at the regional softball tournament at Aurora Sports Park Oct. 15 and saw the season come to a close.

Legend downed the Bulldogs 5-1. Sydney Rodriguez and Brooke Johnson had the Bulldogs' only hits. Kasey Dean got the credit for the only RBI.

Douglas County beat BHS 14-4 in the tournament nightcap. Allison Martinez had two hits and two RBIs for Brighton. Rodriguez added a base hit and the other two RBIs. Johnson struck out four in 1 2/3 innings of relief pitching.

BHS finished the season with an 11-12 record.
