The Jefferson County Courts and Administrative building was evacuated earlier this afternoon due to a bomb threat, according to a tweet from the Jefferson County Sheriff's Office.

JCSO says threat directed at court

The Jefferson County Courthouse and Administration building was briefly evacuated, Friday, May 13, after the Jefferson County dispatch received a bomb threat. The evacuation order was lifted about an hour later after bob experts with bomb-sniffing dogs cleared the building. The investigation is ongoing.

A bomb threat evacuated the Jefferson County Courthouse and Administration building today.

According to a social media post from the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office, the threat came in through the dispatch center.

Jefferson County Sheriff's Office Public Information Officer Jacki Kelley said the threat was a "non-descript threat directed at the court."

The Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office conducted a thorough search with bomp experts and bomb dogs.

The evacuation order was lifted as of approximately 2:20 p.m.

JCSO will continue the investigation in hopes of identifying those responsible.
