Athena Project hosts annual Cocktails & Comedy Fundraiser


The Athena Project is inviting the community to celebrate its 10th anniversary and mark Women’s History month with its annual Cocktails & Comedy Fundraiser on March 5.

The Athena Project is a local nonprofit organization that “empowers women through the arts and creates a world with gender equity where women’s voices are amplified,” states a news release. It consists of “creates a world where women’s voices are powerfully expressed and recognized for artistic merit in the community,” states the news release.

Athena Project’s Cocktails & Comedy Fundraiser takes place at 7:30 p.m., with doors opening at 7 p.m., March 5 at the Maven Hotel Windsor Ballroom inside the Dairy Block at 1850 Wazee St. in Denver. Parking is available at the Dairy Block underground garage parking — the entrance is on 19th between Blake and Wazee streets.

The event will feature several local comedians, heavy appetizers, desserts, a specially-created Athena Project cocktail, games and prizes. Mannequin heads designed by Denver artists will be available for sale at the event and throughout the month, as featured at the Dairy Block in an art Installation called “Women In Their Infinite Forms.”

All COVID health and safety protocols, including required masks, will be observed.

Tickets cost $75 in advance and $80 at the door. A special ticket price for artists is offered at $25. Artists must show proof with a business card, website or headshot/resume at the door.

“Athena Project was founded to shine a spotlight on the underrepresentation of women in the arts, so it’s an honor reflecting on the past 10 years of our impact and service with both joy and pride,” said Angela Astle, executive producer and founder of Athena Project. “We know that we have been a beacon of light throughout the Denver community for women artists. By uplifting their voices and creating more paid opportunities for them, we now have a network of support for years to come. We look forward to the next 10 years of connection and community building.”
