Artists collaborate on pieces in show

“Meyerose and Smith: Collaborations” will run Aug. 30 to Oct. 30 at the PACE Center’s gallery at 20000 Pikes Peak Ave. in Parker. It features 12 collaborative paintings by Jennifer Meyerose and Craig Marshall Smith, plus 12 more by Smith and four individual works by Meyerose. Both work as abstract expressionists. In addition, Smith has a painting in the Large “Colorado Abstract + 10: A History and Survey,” based on the 2009 “Colorado Abstract” book by Michael Paglia and Mary Voelz Chandler. Alice returns

“Alice in Wonderland” presents more than 70 young dancers in a repeat of its production on Sept. 7 and 8 of “Alice in Wonderland” at the University of Denver’s Newman Center, 2344 E. Iliff Ave., Denver. One dancer who will perform as Alice is Lauren Woodard, of Centennial, who has won a full scholarship to the Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis School of the American Ballet in New York City. Colorado Abstract

“Colorado Abstract + 10: A History and Survey” will run at two locations. From Sept. 5 to Jan. 12 at Kirkland Museum, 1201 Bannock St., Denver is “Colorado Abstract: a History” with the original paintings from the book and first show. General admission fee. “Colorado Abstract + 10: A Survey” is at Arvada Center, 6901 Wadsworth, Arvada, through Nov. 17. Included: contemporary works by artists included in the 2009 book, plus a few more Colorado artists working in abstraction today — Sept. 16 through Nov. 17. Admission free.

Highlands Ranch

Highlands Ranch High School’s theater students auditioned in May before school was out and started rehearsals in late July for “The Diviners,” which will play at 7 p.m. on Sept 5, 6 and 7 at the Highlands Ranch High School theater. The story centers on a new preacher in the fictitious town of Zion. Directed by Doyle Hanks. Tickets at the door.

Wood carvers

The 45th Annual Woodcarving Festival/Show/Competition, presented by the Colorado Carvers Club, will be held Sept. 21 (10 a.m. to 5 p.m.) and Sept. 22 (10 a.m. to 4 p.m.) at Jefferson County Fairgrounds, 15200 W. 6th Ave., Golden. Admission for non-members is $5. Free 12 and under and Scouts in uniform. Club members and family free. (Dues $25 — coloradocarvers.org.) Competitions at 2 p.m. both days. Lance Green workshop
