Belen Ward joined the newspaper as a reporter and photojournalist in September 2018 covering government, education, science, technology and human-interest stories. She now focuses on covering the Fort Lupton area. In May 2020, Belen was awarded second place for “Best Headline Writing” by the Colorado Press Association.

After graduating from Metropolitan State University, she worked as an intern production assistant for Rocky Mountain PBS’ "Arts District" program. Once the internship expired, Belen was hired on contract as a production assistant for "Super School News." In March 2017, she worked as an operations technician assisting with daily newscasts at Denver's KDVR Fox 31 and KWGN Channel 2 until coming on board with the newspaper.

A native of Colorado, Belen’s hobbies are photography, videography, travel, hiking, camping and skiing
