John Renfrow leads Sportsland for Colorado Community Media, the region’s best prep sports newsletter. He’s part writer, reporter and assignment editor. He originally hails from Louisville, Kentucky. He earned his journalism degree from Indiana University in 2020. Before moving to Denver in 2021, John covered high school and college sports for a newspaper in Kokomo, Indiana.

His many stories have been published in The Kokomo Perspective, 5280 Magazine, The Denver North Star, the Neighborhood Gazette, and Louisville Business First, among others. When he’s not writing, he’s likely reading science fiction or epic fantasy in a hammock or watching football or basketball (but not writing about it). He also enjoys traveling and skateboarding.
