The Colorado Recover Plan provides $1.4 million to the Employment Services of Weld County to help people pay for credentials and certificates to learn a new skill-set to get a high-quality job or career advancement, according to a press release,
“These funds will help enhance skillsets of the current workforce by providing training to enter the workforce and to grow within their current company or venture into a different industry,” explained Karina Amaya-Ragland, director of employment services of Weld County.
Residents who have been impacted financially by COVID-19 could have the opportunity to qualify for funding to obtain one of these credentials. The certificates must be complete within 12 months or less from when funding is received.
According to officials, many businesses during the pandemic experienced labor shortages or employees working outside their job description wear many hats. The funding helps employees advance their careers with the recognized credentials.
“We understand the hardships that the pandemic brought on not only impacted individuals but businesses as well. With these funds, businesses can also explore incumbent worker training to upskill their existing talent to fill positions with upward mobility while making entry-level positions available for new talent to meet overall workforce demands,” said Tami Grant, deputy director of human services for the county.
