Ahead of Thanksgiving, Integrated Family Community Services, or IFCS, will host a Fresh Thanks event to provide grocery boxes for holiday meal support to  the community on Nov. 18 at Arapahoe Community College.

A press release from IFCS said the event will start at noon and boxes filled with free groceries such as seasonal produce and pantry items will be distributed to 500 households in a drive-thru style.

“The event will take place at Arapahoe Community College on the Littleton Campus. Food will be distributed firstcome, first-served while supplies last, and all involved anticipate this to be a popular event,” the press release reads.

The event comes months after IFCS opened its indoor market for income eligible families to visit to select various groceries.

“To support as many families as possible, the nonprofit limited household visits to twice monthly, and is seeing a steady increase of new visitors,” the release said.

The event is able to take place due to 250 volunteers who are “converging early Saturday morning to sort and assemble the food boxes, as well as private donors and grant funders.”

“From its beginnings in 1964, IFCS has a nearly 60-year partnership with the community, working together to alleviate hunger, offer compassion, and help children, families, and seniors out of the downward spiral of poverty,” the press release said.
