The First United Methodist Church is hosting its 15th year of helping those in need with the Great Thanksgiving Giveaway Nov. 18.

“The First United Methodist has been doing this for 15 years. The year we are working with the Fort Lupton Food and Clothing Bank, the Mount Calvary Lutheran Church, the Seventh Day Advantest Church, Bank of Colorado, Petrocco Farms, United Power, Safeway, and private donations,” Sue Hubert organizer.

Volunteers will gather at 9 a.m. Nov. 17 at the First United Methodist Church, 306 Park Ave. to pack the boxes. Drop in volunteers are welcome, she said,

Hubert said that 250 boxes filled with 14 items and a $25 Safeway gift card for a turkey or ham will be ready to be given away.  The distribution is from 10 a.m. until noon at 638 Main Street at Rinehart Oils, warehouse and drive-through.

“The applications were available on the first of October and all 250 meal boxes were taken by the first of November,” Hubert said.

“All 250 boxes will go out to the food insecure families in the Fort Lupton and surrounding areas. This will ensure that each family will have a good Thanksgiving.”

With the $25 Gift Card donated by United Power, one can of green beans, one can of corn, one box of cake mix, one can of frosting, one box of stuffing, two cans of cranberries, one can of fruit, onions donated by Petrocco Farms, one box of instant potatoes, on package gravy mix, three-pound bag of rice, pinto beans, flour, and a pumpkin pie so a family can cook up a feast.
