Rifle High School ended Fort Lupton’s boys soccer’ season Oct. 31 by way of a 2-0 win in the second round of the state 3A playoffs.

The win sends the Bears into the quarterfinals at Peak to Peak Charter School Saturday, Nov. 4.

Adrian Valencia scored what proved to be the game-winning goal in the 35th minute of play. Eduardo Espino added an insurance goal by way of a penalty kick in the 60th minute.

No stats were available for Fort Lupton.

Senior Diego De La Fuente led Fort Lupton in scoring this season with 31 goals. Carlos Limones was next with 15. 

Goalkeeper Dominik Martinez finished his high-school with a goals-against average of 1.03.

Coach Kyle Reddy, who finished his fourth season in charge of the Bluedevils’ squad, has taken his team to the playoffs all four years. 

The Bluedevils (11-2-4 this season) made it to the second round of the state tournament the past three seasons. Reddy’s teams are 42-15-4 in his tenure.
