Tomsula, Burns and McNeal win Apex Parks and Rec Board seats, according to early returns

The Apex Parks and Recreation District held a Board of Director’s election on May 3, with early returns forecasting wins for Liz Tomsula, Jo Burns and Abby McNeal.

The trio is set to join President Vicki Pyne and Director Rich Garrimone, whose terms are set to expire in 2023 on the Apex Board.

Tomsula paced the candidates with 436 votes, followed by Burns with 396 votes and McNeal with 396 votes. Ken Harrell received 355 votes and Eric McWhorter received 238 votes.

Tomsula won re-election to the board while Burns and McNeal replace Stephanie Allen — who did not seek re-election — and Harrell, who did not receive enough of the vote to win re-election.

The official election results will be announced on May 17. The newly elected board members will be sworn in at the board meeting scheduled for May 19.
