Fort Lupton City Council agreed May 3 to pay almost $17,000 for increasing on-call pay, adding pay differentials for credentials and money to cover the higher costs of commercial driver’s license training for the public works department.
The agreement includes a base-pay increase for department on-call workers to eight straight pay hours per week, a $1 an hour increase for employees who earn certificates beyond what’s necessary for their jobs and extra money for training funds because of a change in requirements to get a commercial driver’s license. The change involves a completion of an external class, and the charge is $1,800 per person, according to staff notes.
The changes took effect at the end of April.

Fort Lupton City Council unanimously agreed to pay more than $20,000 for four new police radios May 3.
The radios are due to be installed by the end of the calendar year.
Council also agreed to take $25,000 from the city’s recreation fund to install a new fitness court at Railroad Park. The contract is with Engineering Installation Service.
Council also approved the appointment of Henry Ford to the city’s public safety advisory committee. The term began Jan. 4 and expires Dec. 31, 2023.
