Historic Littleton Inc. will host walking tours of downtown Littleton every first Friday of the month beginning May 6 and concluding Sept. 2.
Attendees will “travel back in time with a tour of buildings, lives and events” to learn about the history of the buildings, “including the architecture, and the people who owned them,” according to the event information.
The roughly hour-long tours, which will begin at the Littleton Court House, will guide attendees down Littleton’s Main Street, home to nine designated historic sites.
Board members for Historic Littleton Inc. will give the history of long-standing buildings, such as the Town Hall Arts Center, formally town hall, and the Carnegie Library, now home to the Melting Pot.
The goal, according to board member Margi Clute, will be to educate community members about the city’s storied history.
“If they can get an appreciation for what the history of Littleton is, that would be huge,” she said, adding that the cluster of historic landmarks adds an “ambiance” to Main Street.
Historic Littleton Inc., founded in 1990 as the Second Century Fund, seeks to be an “advocate for the protection of Littleton’s cultural heritage,” according to its website.
The tour is free and no reservations are required. Attendees will need to meet at the courthouse at 2069 West Littleton Boulevard at 6 p.m. Historic Littleton accepts donations and can be contacted through its website here.
