Coming in June, Westminster City Hall will be open on Fridays for the first time in twelve years.
Westminster city council voted unanimously to change the hours from the current schedule, 7 a.m. – 6 p.m. Monday – Thursday, to 8 a.m. – 5 p.m.Monday through Friday.
Dave Carpenter voiced in public comment that 8 a.m. – 5 p.m. is when most people are working and it could be more restrictive, rather than the 7 a.m. – 6 p.m. Monday – Thursday.
City Councilor Lindsey Emmons and Sarah Nurmela both agreed, Nurmela pointed to builders and developers who like to come between 5 and 6 p.m.
“Of the 15 (neighboring cities,) 13 provide service to their customers Monday through Friday eight to five,” Interim City Manager Jody Andrews said.
According to the meeting’s agenda, the move is intended to enhance customer service for the public and business community.
Andrews said the new hours have been taken very well from customers.
