Monday, April 4 — Colorado State Patrol notified Idaho Springs police that a stolen vehicle with a trailer hauling two stolen skid-steers was seen in town. The agencies engaged in a short pursuit through the town, and the suspects ditched the vehicle in the 100 block of Trail Creek Road and fled up the mountain on foot. Other agencies arrived to help search, and one suspect was caught and arrested. The other remained at large overnight, and was captured the next day. The stolen vehicle and skid-steers were recovered.
Monday, April 4 — Georgetown police responded to a downtown business on a report of vandalism. Surveillance cameras were able to identify the suspect, who later agreed to make restitution.
Tuesday, April 5 — An Idaho Springs police officer was patrolling in the 500 block of Virginia Street when he noticed an occupied vehicle with expired temporary plates. When the officer attempted to contact the occupants, the driver took off at a high rate of speed, failing to stop at stop signs through town. Other local agencies assisted in the pursuit and deployed stop-sticks on eastbound Interstate 70 near mile marker 248. The vehicle hit the sticks and later crashed. Both suspects were caught, and found to have multiple warrants for their arrest. The vehicle was stolen, as were the license plates. The suspects also reportedly had stolen drivers’ licenses, credit cards and drug paraphernalia. They were also suspected to be under the influence of fentanyl during the incident.
Wednesday, April 6 — An Idaho Springs code enforcement officer found one stolen vehicle in a lot near the 100 block of Idaho Street. Multiple agencies arrived and recovered the vehicle, along with stolen license plates attached to another vehicle. Two suspects at the property had multiple felony arrest warrants. While executing a search warrant for the property, law enforcement found stolen tools, catalytic converters, license plates and narcotics. ISPD is still investigating, and the property has been condemned.
Thursday, April 7 — After ending his shift, an Idaho Springs officer was driving home when he encountered a high-speed pursuit. Shots had been fired between Jeffco Sheriff’s deputies and the suspects, and the ISPD officer stopped to assist the deputies. The officer then provided a roadblock at Turkey Gulch and Quincy while Jeffco deputies secured the scene and eventually captured the four suspects.
Friday, April 8 — Multiple law enforcement agencies responded to the structure fire at Clear Creek Trailer Park in Empire. They assisted in evacuating multiple homes.
Friday, April 8 — Idaho Springs police and Sheriff’s deputies attempted to stop a vehicle, as the driver was known to have warrants for his arrest and had revoked driving privileges. The driver reportedly failed to stop and eluded officers in the Miners Candle area. He abandoned the vehicle and took off on foot. On April 13, ISPD and the Sheriff’s Office executed a search warrant in the 900 block of Colorado Boulevard. Officers located and arrested the suspect, a 31-year-old Idaho Springs resident, on suspicion of felony eluding.
Friday, April 8 — Georgetown police contacted an intoxicated individual in the Sheriff’s Office lobby. The individual was taken into custody for violation of bond conditions.
Sunday, April 10 — Georgetown police investigated a tire that was stolen from a parked vehicle. No suspect could be identified.
