Postmaster Chad Miller, 45, was arrested on March 31 at the Elizabeth Post Office by Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office investigators on suspicion of two counts of Internet Sexual Exploitation of a Child and Sexual Exploitation of a Child, all felony charges, according to a news release from the sheriff’s office.

The arrest was made by the sheriff’s Cheezo Unit/Special Investigations Unit, which focuses on internet sexual exploitation.

The investigation began in August 2021, when Miller allegedly initiated communication with a member of the Cheezo Unit based on the belief that the investigator was a 13-year-old girl. Miller allegedly expressed a desire to have sex with the girl but then stopped communicating with the undercover investigator, never setting a date to meet.

Then last month, between March 9 and March 30, Miller again initiated communication with an investigator from the Cheezo Unit who was posing as a 13-year-old girl and disclosed that he was a postmaster, the news release said.

During the 2022 interactions, Miller continually engaged in detailed sexual communications with someone he believed was a juvenile, described the sexual acts he wanted to do to the girl, asked for “live” pictures so he could verify the girl was real and requested videos, according to the sheriff’s office.

As of April 1, the Jefferson County jail webpage showed Miller in custody and eligible for bail.
