United Power is hosting four events for communities to learn about the five candidates running for the United Power board of directors, according to a press release.

Three positions on the board are open. The candidates running in the East District are Steve Douglas, Naptali A. Luck, and Elizabeth A. Martin. The West District candidate is Ursula J. Morgan, and Keith Alquist is in the South District. The events are free for members, and an R.S.V.P. is not required.

The events are as follows in March:

Tuesday, March 22 at 7:30 a.m. Coal Creek Canyon Community Center 3158 State Highway 72, Golden

Monday, March 28 at 6:30 p.m. Riverdale Regional Park Rendezvous Room (in the Waymire Dome) 9755 Henderson Road, Brighton.

Wednesday, March 30 at 7:30 a.m. Fort Lupton Recreation Center (multi-purpose room 3), 203 S. Harrison Ave., Fort Lupton

Thursday, March 31 at 6:30 p.m. United Power Carbon Valley Service Center 9586 East I-25 Frontage Road

The Meet the Candidates event will also be live-streamed at www.unitedpower.com.

United Power mails the ballots in March. The deadline to return the votes is April 12. Members have the opportunity to vote electronically through their online accounts.

The directors are voted on an at-large basis because they represent all members in each district, even though they live in specific geographic communities. So, members can vote in their neighborhoods and a director in another community.

The United Power 2022 Annual meeting is at the Riverdale Regional Park April 13. It will be a hybrid event, so members have the opportunity to attend or live stream on United Power’s website beginning at 6:30 p.m. The registration opens at 4:30 p.m.; ballots close by 6:30 p.m.

If COVID-19 restrictions changes and cancels the in-person event, the virtual format will still be available. For current COVID updates, visit www.unitedpower.com.

Director profiles will be published in the United Power March-April newsletter or on the United Newsline website at www.unitedpower.com/annual-meeting.
