Editor’s Note: This is the eighth in an ongoing series about coffee shops in the foothills.
Those wanting to play classic or modern board games while they sip on a latte should look no further than Tony’s Coffee Shack in Bailey.
Becca and Antonio Hector opened Tony’s Coffee Shack in June 2021 as an extension of their food truck they had been operating for 8 months before they got the building.
Becca hopes that the shop can be a community gathering place.
“A place in Bailey where people can go and hang out if their internet goes out,” she said.
The shop serves Kaladi Brothers Coffee, multiple milk alternatives, dairy free smoothies and countless types of sandwiches out of the truck, which is parked on the property.
The truck offers New York style breakfast sandwiches, grilled lunch sandwiches and more. Becca recommends the BCR, the bacon cheddar ranch.
Antonio has always had a passion for creating great food.
“His personal dream was always to serve food to other people,” Becca said.
Moving to Bailey from New York made his dream a reality.
“The universe cleared a way for us to do something else,” Becca said.
In addition to food and drinks, Tony’s Coffee Shack offers more than 40 board games to play in the shop. For $5 a person, one can play as long and as many games as they like. The shop has classics like Scrabble, Clue and checkers, and modern games like Settlers of Catan and Dungeons and Dragons.
“We’re hoping the gaming community will grow here,” Becca said.
The shop currently has a DnD campaign and has board game night every Saturday from 4-8 p.m..
The pair is looking to create a community atmosphere in other ways with Tony’s Coffee Shack. Every month, they host “The Bailey Date Night Club,” which is a seven course themed dinner cooked out of the food truck and served in the shop. The theme changes monthly and they take reservations at tonyssammies@gmail.com.
In the near future, the shop hopes to acquire their liquor license, opening up more possibilities for the menu and future events.
Tony’s Coffee Shack is located at 12 Rosalie Road in Bailey. The shop is open Monday through Thursday from 6 a.m. to 4 p.m., Fridays and Sundays 6 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Saturdays 6 a.m. to 8 p.m..
