To the Douglas County Board of Education:
My name is Mike Dubrovich and I have been a resident of Douglas County for the past 37 years. I served as an elementary principal in the district from 1985 to 2004. I have had four kids go through Douglas County Schools and now my grandchildren are enrolled here.
It’s obvious to me that four of you conspired with each other by contacting American Academy director Erin Kane about becoming our next superintendent before you fired Corey Wise for no reason. Which makes me wonder. Was Ms. Kane in on your plan from the beginning? After all, she did contribute money to your election campaign.
But now that the cat is out of the bag about what you’ve been up to behind the backs of your fellow directors, you need to consider your options. First, you could just go ahead and appoint Ms. Kane in the position and acknowledge what everyone already knows. This game was rigged from the beginning. Or you could not hire Ms. Kane. Just throw Erin under the bus to save your own skins and say it was all a big misunderstanding. But that won’t sit very well with all those dark money campaign contributors who paid thousands of dollars for your many TV commercials. Or you could simply do the honorable thing. Resign. You’ve left your mark on this school district. It’s not pretty, and you’ve harmed a lot of people. My advice is that you leave now before you harm any more.
