THORNTON — Horizon High School’s girls basketball team advanced to the second round of the state 5A playoffs by beating Rock Canyon 62-39 Feb. 22 in Thornton.

The win pushes the Hawks into a second-round match at Fruita Monument. Friday, Feb. 25. The Jaguars end their season with a record of 10-13.

HHS led the Jaguars by six points at intermission, but the Hawks were able to outscore the Jaguars 39-22 in the second half to come away with the win.

Senior Audra vine led the Hawks with 29 points. Natalie Thornton was next with 12. Alyssa Temple scored seven,. No stats were available for Rock Canyon.
