DENVER — Dylan Bravo-Packer completed a sweep of pinfall wins through the 220-pound bracket at the state 5A wrestling tournament tonight. The result is a state championship.
Bravo-Packer (39-3) capped off his run through the tournament with a pin of Haegun Hoffschneider of Ponderosa in 4:48, the longest amount of time Bravo-Packer had to be on the mat. His first-round win against Adonis Burkes Colter of Rock Canyon took 1:21. His quarterfinal win over Lukas Villalobos of Prairie took 2:53. The semifinal pin of Regis Jesuit’s Dirk Morley took 1:50.
Elsewhere, DJ Rock took fifth at 152 poiunds. Rock, who pinned his first two opponents in a combined time of a bit more than five minutes, lost in the semifinals to Pommona’s Daniel Cardenas. Aiden Cartwright beat Rock 6-1 in the consolation semifinals. Rock (25-12) beat Adams City’s Seth Deaguero by pinfall in the fifth-place match.
Braden Heinz, Brighton’s 113-pounder, split his first state-level matches. He beat Murphy Harris of Grand Junction in the opening round and got past Elijah Griego of Lakewood 1-0 in overtime in the second consolation round. Heinz finished with a record of 29-15.
Soloman Smouse (27-15) did not win either of his matches at state. Josiah Gallegos (39-11) got to the third round of the consolation bracket at 126 pounds before his tournament came to an end. Gallegos’ wins were against Thornton’s Christopher Moreno in the opening round and against Antonio Beall of Monarch in the second round of consolation matches.
At 132 pounds, Kaden Jousego (8-20) didn’t win either of his state-level matches. Sam Rock, Brighton’s 145-pounder, split four matches and did not places. His wins were against Jackson white of Heritage in the opening round and against legacy’s Kaiden Sullivan in the second round of the consolation bracket. Rock finished the season with a record of 25-12.
Izaiah Schoepp made it to the third round of consolation matches at 160 pounds before his tournament ended. His two wins were in that bracket. One was a pinfall of Arvada West’s Wyatt Blomquist, and the other was a 5-2 decision over Treye Dishener of Pine Creek. Schoepp finished with a record of 25-10.

DENVER — Brighton’s Dylan BravoPacker, the top seed at 220 pounds, goes for a state title tonight against against Ponderosa’s Haegun Hoffschneider. BravoPacker needed 1:50 to pin Regis Jesuit’s Dirk Morley in the semifinals last night. In three tournament matches, BravoPacker has three pins totaling 5:54 of mat time.
DJ Rock lost in the 152-pound semis last night. Daniel Cardenas of Pomona pinned Rock in 2:33 of their match. Rock is awaiting the winner of the match between Dominik Gendreau of Monarch and Aiden Cartwright of Highlands Ranch

Gallegos beat Monarch’s Antnio Beall by pinfall in 1:47 of their 126-pound, consolation round match last night. Gallegos faces Antonio Beall of Monarch later.
At 145 pounds, BHS’ Sam Rock will face Dylan Chelewski of Fruita Monument later this morning in the third round of consolation matches. After splitting his first two matches, Rock earned an 8-4 decision over Legacy’s Kaeden Sullivan last night.
In the 160-pound bracket, Izaiah Schoepp remains in the running to place in the top six. Schoepp, who lost in the first round Thursday night, beat Wyatt Bkoomquist of Arvada West and Treye Dashner of Pine Creek in the consolation rounds last night. Schoepp faces Sullivan Sampler of Fruit Monument later today.
Braaden Heinz is out of the 113-pound tournament. Heinz, a freshman, Beat Lakewood’s Elijah Griego 1-0 in overtime in the second round of consolations. Cherokee Trail’s Chance Matthews, also a freshman, beat Heinz 5-2 in the third round of consolations this morning. Heinz finished the season with a record of 30-15.
BHS’ Solomon Smouse finished his season with a record of 27-16. Smouse, a junior, lost in the first round of consolations to Dominic Cordray of Chaparral by a score of 3-1 in the 120-pound bracket.
Kaden Housego, BHS’ 132-pounder, lost both his matches at state. Rocky Mountain’s Kaemron Cobb pinned Housego in 2:32 of the first round of consolation matches last night. Housego, a sophomore, finished the season with a record of 8-21.

DENVER — At 220 pounds, Dylan Bravo-Packer of Brighton pinned Prairie View’s Lukas Villalobos in 2:53 of their quarterfinal match this afternoon at Ball Arena. Bravo-Packer moves into the semifinals to face Dirk Morley of Regis Jesuit.
BHS’ DJ Rock also advanced to the state semifinals at 152 pounds. He pinned Grandview’s Andrew Sarro in 2:46 in the quarterfinal rounds. Rock faces Daniel Cardenas of Pomona.
At 113 pounds, BHS freshman Braaden Heinz lost to Ponderosa’s Otto Black by way of a pinfall in the quarterfinals. Heinz’s first consolation match is later this evening. In the 126-pound bracket, Ponderosa’s Brandon Cannon beat Josiah Gallegos by a technical fall margin of 17-1. Gallegos’ first consolation match is later tonight.
Ponderosa’s Josiah Parsons earned a major (14-3) decision over Sam Rock in the 145-pound quarterfinals. Rock moves into the consolation bracket for a match later this evening.
Consolation matches continue through the rest of the afternoon. The semifinals are set to begin at 6:30 p.m.

DENVER — Five Brighton High School wrestlers are in the quarterfinals at the state 5A wrestling tournament at Ball Arena.
Braaden Heinz, a freshman, pinned Grand Junction Central’s Murphy Harris in 4:44 of their 113-pound match. Heinz takes on Ponderosa’s Otto Black. At 126 pounds, Josiah Gallegos needed just 27 seconds to pin Thornton’s Christopher Moreno. Gallegos, a sophomore, faces Ponderosa’s Brandon Cannon.
In the 145-pound bracket, Brighton’s Sam Rock earned a major (11-0) win over Jackson White of Heritage. When the quarterfinals begin, Rock will face Nico Dow of Boulder. Dow pinned the top seed in the weight class, Josiagh Parsons, in 2:52. DJ Rock opened up his state tournament at 152 pounds with a pinfall win over Mountain Range’s Kaleob Qualls. Rock faces Grandview’s Andrew Sams.

Housego and Rocky Mountain’s Kaemon Cobb square off in the consolation round.
Grand Junction’s Micah Kenney earned a 6-3 decision over Brighton’s Izaiah Schoepp at 160 pounds. Schoepp faces Wyatt Blomquist in the consolation draw.
