DENVER — Adams City’s Levi Deaguero becomes the latest in his family to capture a state wrestling championship.

Deaguero won the 145-pound title at the class 5A state tournament tonight by a score of 3-2 over Ponderosa’s Tyler Eise. It was the closest match for Deaguero in the three-day tournament. Deaguero (38-1) pinned Columbine’s Will Schrader, Grand Junction’s Able Martinez and Grandview’s Sonny Quintana in a combined time of 6:11.

Jace Long wound up third at 132 pounds. He won his first two matches, including a tough, 1-0 decision over Austin Eudaly of Arvada West in the quarterfinals. After a semifinal round loss to Elijah Olguin of Pomona, Long beat Payton Harris of Ponderosa 5-0 and pinned Mountin Range’s Kyle Lewis in 44 seconds of the third-place match.

Daniel Long took third at 170 pounds. Long (33-14) split his first two matches, then lost to Roman Cruz of Pomona in the semifinals. After that, Long earned a major, 8-0 decision against True Tobiasson and a 4-0 decision over Grandview’s Josh Allen.

Maximus Gutierrez took fourth at 138 pounds. Gutierrez (37-10) split his first two matches, then had to win three in a row in the consolation bracket to have a chance to place. Two of those wins were by pinfall. Pomona’s Vincent Cabral beat Gutierrez 6-4 in overtime in the third-place match.

Seth Deaguero (21-7) was fifth at 152 pounds. Like Gutierrez, Deaguero split his first two matches. Deaguero won back-to-back matches in the consolation bracket, including a 7-5, overtime win against Legacy’s Blake Swearingen in the third round of the bracket.

Nicholas Vasquez (27-14) did not plae at 106 pounds. He split his two matches. The wins came in the first round against Poudre’s Ty Reeves and against Prairie View’s Nolan Peterson in the second round of the consolation bracket. The losses were to Declan Street of Chaparral in the quarterfinals and to Isaiah Sisneros of Lakewood in the third round of consolations.

Tyson Moffitt, the Eagles’ 170-pounder, did not place. Moffitt (30-8) split his four matches. The wins were in the consolation bracket against Miles Brugger of Northglenn and Zack Zuniga of Thornton.

Johnthon Le Blanc (15-17) won once in three tries at 120 pounds. His win was in the first round of consolations against Hugo Barrios of Denver East. Cesar Garcia, Adams City’s 182-pounder, won once in three tries. Garcia (22-17) beat Jaden Valdiris of Chaparral in the first round of consolation matches. Micah Ortiz made to the third round of 285-pound consolation matches before bowing out. Ortiz (22-14) picked up wins against Nate Gaye of Cherokee Trail and Cristian Paez of Poudre.

10:15 a.m. Feb. 19

DENVER — Adams City’s Levi Deaguero vies for a 145-pound state title tonight against Ponderosa’s Tyler Eise. Deaguero earned his spot in the finals by pinning Grandview’s Sonny Quintana in 49 seconds of their semifinal match last night.

Jace Long lost in the 132-pound semifinals last night. Elijah Olguin, the top seed in the bracket, beat Long 8-5. Long is waiting on the winner of the match between Jaden McGowan of Rocky Canyon and Payton Harris of Ponderosa.

At 170 pounds, Pomona’s Roman Cruz turned back Daniel Long 11-3 in the semifinals last night. Long awaits the winner of the match between True Tobiasson of Fruita Monument and Brent Langer of Mountain Vista.

Seth Deaguero faces Legacy’s Blake Swearingen in the consolation draw of 152-pounders later today. Deaguero  beat Ponderosa;s Nolan Stricker by pinfall in 3:14 of their second-round consolation match last night.

Maximus Gutierrez, the Eagles’ 138-pounder, stayed alive in the consolation draw. He beat Grand Junction’s Peyton Harris by pinfall in 1:58 of their match. Gutierrez takes on Kegan Swain of Chaparral later today.

At 160 pounds, Tyson Moffitt is still alive. He faces Dante Hutchings of Pomona later today in the consolation round. Moffitt, who lost in the opening round Thursday,  beat Miles Brugger of Northglenn and Thonrton’s Zach Zuniga last night.

At 220 pounds, Micah Ortiz is alive in the consolation bracket. The ACHS junior, who lost in the quarterfinals yesterday afternoon, bounced back for a pinfall win over Cristian Paez of Poudre in the second consolation round. Ortiz faces Pine Creek’s Nate King later.

Cy Renney is alive in the 285-pound bracket.  He won two matches yesterday in the consolation bracket,  including an overtime win against Jameson Yeingst of Cherry Creek. Renney faces Josseph Shepardson of Fruita Monument later.

Adams City’s Nicholas Vasquez won his first consolation-round match last night over Prairie View’s Nolan Peterson. The score was 8-1. But Vasquez’s run through the tourney ended this morning at the hands of Lakewood’s Isaiah Sisneros. Sisneros earned a major (12-1) decision in the third round of consolation matches. Vasquez finished with a record of 28-14 this season.

Johnthon LeBlanc, the Eagles’ 113-pounder, is out of the tournament as well.  He beat Denver East’s Hugao Barrios 12-0 in the first round of consolation matches. Elijah Banks of Pine Creek beat LeBlanc 8-3 in the second round of matches in that part of the draw.

LeBlanc finished his season with a record of 15-18.

Cesar Garcia, Adams City’s 182-pounder, beat Chaparral’s Jaden Valdiris in the first round of consolation matches bya score of 2-0. Jacob Judd of Pomona earned a major (12-3) decision over Garcia in the second round of consolations to end Garcia’s season. Garcia had a record of 22-18.

DENVER — Adams City’s Jace Long moved into the 132-pound semifinals this afternoon after a tough, 1-0 decision over Austin Eudaly of Arvada West in the quarterfinals. Long faces Elijah Olguin of Pomona later tonight.

At 145 pounds, Levi Deaguero moved into the semifinals after pinning Able Martinez of Grand Junction in 4:52 of their quarterfinal match. Deaguero takes on Grandview’s Sonny Quintana in the semis. Daniel Long, the Eagles’ 170-pounder, beat Rocky Mountain’s Cole Griffin by pinning him in 5:14 of their quarterfinal match. Long faces Pomona’s Roman Cruz later tonight in the semifinals.

Elsewhere, Nicholas Vasquez lost his 106-pound quarterfinal match to Declan Strgait of Chaparral by a score of 8-3 in the quarterfinals. Vasquez’ first consolation match is later this evening. Maximus Gutierrez lost a 7-4 decision to Vincent Cabral of Pomona in the 138-pound quarterfinals. Gutierrez’s first consolation match is later this evening.

Seth Deaguero lost his quarterfinal match to Pomona’s Daniel Cardenas at 145 pounds. Cardenas pinned the Eagles’ junior in 27 seconds. Deaguero moves to a consolation round match later tonight. At 220 pounds, Ponderosa’s Heagun Hoffschneider earned an 8-3 decision over Micah Ortiz of the Eagles. Ortiz’s first consolation match is later this evening.

8:45 p.m. Feb. 17

DENVER — Seven wrestlers from Adams City High School moved into the state 5A wrestling tournament quarterfinals Feb. 17 at Ball Arena.

Nicholas Vasquez needed 1:40 to pin Poudre’s Ty Reeves at 106 pounds. Vasquez faces Declan Straight of Chaparral. ACHS’ 132-pounder, Jace Long, pinned Grand Junction’s colton Romero in 2:39. Long faces Austin Eudaly of Arvada West.

At 138 pounds, the Eagles’ Maximus Gutierrez earned a major (13-3) decision win over Ralston Valley’s Mateo Rivera. Gutierrez faces Pomona’s Vincent Cabral. Levi Deaguero, the No. 2 sesed at 145 pounds, pinned Columbine’s Will Schraeder in 1:30 of their first-round match. Deaguero next faces Able Martinez of Grand Junction.

Another Deaguero, this time Seth, moved into the quarterfinals after pinning Ben Anderson of Fairview in 2:57 of their 152-;ound match. Deaguiero faces Daniel Cardenas of Pomona. At 170 pounds, Daniel Long pinned Castle view’s Ian Crabtree in 3:51 of the first-round match. Long moves on to face Rocky Mountain’s Cole Griffin.

Micah Ortiz of the Eagles won his first-round match at 220 pounds. Ortiz pinned Nate Gate of Cherokee Trail in 2:48. Ortiz next faces Haegun Hoffschneider of Ponderosa.

At 120 pounds, Grandview’s Sean Arnett pinned Adams City’s Johnthon LeBlanc in 1:10. LeBlanc next faces Hugo Barrios of Denver East High School. Tyson Moffitt lost a 7-4 decision to Cherokee Trail’s Matthew Buck at 160 pounds. Moffitt next faces Northglenn’s Miles Brugger.

At 182 pounds, Rangeview’s Greg Brooks pinned the Eagles’ Cesar Garcia in 50 seconds. Garcia takes on Jaden Valdiris of Chaparral. Jose Rosales of Pomona pinned Cy Renney of the Eagles in 4:43. Renney takes on Sam Lake of Chaparral.

Quarterfinal round matches and the first round of conoslation matches begin at 12:45 p.m. Friday, Feb. 18.
