Fort Lupton’s girls wrestling team qualified five competitors to the state girls wrestling tournament at Ball Arena next week. On top of that, Fort Lupton won the regional championship.
Rylee Balcazar took first place at 100 pounds. She pinned all four of her opponents, including Pomona’s Alyra Gomez in 1:34 of the finals.
At 215 pounds, Angelrae Garcia won a regional title. She pinned Northridge’s Paulina Cruz in 3:02.
Genevieve Hunt took third at 118 pounds. Hunt lost in the qiuarterfinals, then won four in a row to earn her place in the state meet.
Anastyn Livesay, who finished second at the state meet last year, finished third at 161 pounds. She, too, won four matches in a row to take the consolation championship.
Gizelle Adame took fifth at 185 pounds. She won her last match by forfeit over Overland’s Mox Talmadage.
