Chief’s report
The Community Wildfire Protection Plan is nearing completion and the department expects the finalization of the document by April. It will be used as a planning document in the future.
The district completed its first mitigation project last week along Foxton Road. 42.5 acres of thinning and pile burning were completed by the district.
The housing market has outpaced the salaries of full-time and seasonal firefighters. Elk Creek is investigating the possibility of using grant money to build employee housing at Station 2 in Pine. The district is working on applying for several grants in 2022.
January Stats
The district saw 219 hours of staffing for the month of January and had an average response time of 10 minutes 11 seconds. The district completed 356 hours of training in January, which included presentations from fire chiefs from out of state.
Elk Creek Fire completed 29 home inspections in January and the Wildfire Prepared program has completed seven home assessments so far this year.
