A Centennial man with a medical condition went missing Feb. 10 and was found the next day, according to the Arapahoe County Sheriff’s Office.
Faustin Havugimana, 59, was last seen leaving his home in the 6200 block of South Albion Way in west Centennial — along Colorado Boulevard south of Orchard Road — at 2 p.m. Feb. 10, to walk to Lois Lenski Elementary School to pick up his grandchild, but he never arrived, according to a news release from the sheriff’s office.
He has a condition for which he needs medication. He is from Rwanda and only speaks his native language of Kinyarwanda; he does not speak English, the release said.
An active search was underway for Havugimana as of the afternoon Feb. 11 amid cold weather conditions, the sheriff’s office tweeted.
“Deputies are using drones to search creek beds and the mounted unit is patrolling nearby trails. No sightings yet and temps are dropping fast,” the sheriff’s office tweeted.
Havugimana was found around 3 p.m. in Greenwood Village, the sheriff’s office said in another tweet later that afternoon.
“He is alert but in need of medical care. Our deputies are speaking to him now. Thank you everyone for sharing the post and getting the word out,” the sheriff’s office tweeted.
